Getting enough sleep is so important! If you're not getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night, you're greatly increasing your risk for hypertension, weight gain, obesity, heart disease, hormone imbalances, and anxiety. I just did an assignment on the importance of sleep, and I honestly don't think people realize just how important sleep really is for optimal health. Getting enough sleep is just as important as eating healthy foods, and getting regular exercise. Unfortunately, however, the average American just doesn't get enough. I recently made a rule for myself that I'm not allowed to use electronic devices past 9:00 at night. I made this rule because electronic devices and social media often keep me awake much longer than I should be, as it's incredibly easy to lose track of time. Electronic devices also emit a light that messes with your brains natural hormone cycle, and makes it harder to fall asleep or feel tired when you should. If you're having issues with your health, you might not be getting enough sleep for your body to function properly. I always aim for at least 8 hours each night, but if I'm exercising regularly I often need more than that. Everyone is a little different, but getting enough sleep should definitely be a priority. You could be eating well and exercising regularly, but if you're not getting enough sleep you're not going to feel your best. I know it's impossible to ashtrays get enough, but do your best and make sleep a priority! More Date Snacks! I know I've posted a lot of date snacks but I think it would be unkind if I didn't share this extra simple, whole food recipe with you. They are so yummy and satisfying. Drumroll please.... Mixed Nut and Chia Seed Date Bites! Stop everything right now and make them. Blend together to a paste: •18-20 medjool dates •2ish Tbsp water • 1 tsp Mexican vanilla (if you don't have Mexican, omit). Then blend together •2/3 cup mixed nuts (preferably raw) until you have a mix of small chunks and some powder. Add the nuts to the dates and toss in •2 Tbsp Chia seeds. Mix everything together and roll into balls. Then roll those little pieces of heaven through some hemp seeds or unsweetened shredded coconut. Your kids may stop speaking to you if you ask them to eat the Hemp seed ones but I think it would be acceptable to sit on them and force feed because they taste amazing! Warm bowl of vegetable and lentils soup with homemade bread🌿🥘 I really love this lunch! It's so simple, filling and warms you up when it's cold outside🤗 Once you've chopped all the veggies you just have to wait until their done🙏 And you can easily prepare larger portions for the whole family or the next days🌿🥘 My family and my fiancé love this recipe and hope you'll love it too😊 If you want to know my bread recipe let me know! Wish you a wonderful weekend❤ Vegetable & lentils soup (serves 4 people) Ingredients: -200g lentils -2 red onions -4 carrots -200g celery -1 leek -about 1 liter vegetable stock -fresh parsley -pinch of salt & pepper Directions: First wash the lentils and vegetables. Chop the vegetables in small pieces. Then heat a big pot and add the onions and lentils. Cook for about 2-3 minutes. Then add the vegetable stock and the rest of the vegetables. Let it cook for about 45-60 minutes until the lentils and vegetables are done. At the end serve with fresh parsley and bread and enjoy!

Roast chicken, trout, a little bit of Cesar salad (no dressing), couscous salad, trout, one cauliflower cheese (yes just the one) and one new potato 🥔. Post workout snack: Pesto pasta. The great part is it's 100% vegan. And it's so DELICIOUS, my husband ate two bowls. It's extra green because I made it with spinach pasta. The cheesy part is actually a mixture of organic tofu, basil, pine nuts, olive oil, and garlic. Fun fact: Tofu has 10g of protein per 6 oz. cube. It's also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B1, magnesium, and iron. This is a modified version of the recipe found in the new @forksoverknives magazine. 🙌🏼randomfactsoftheday
