You can't go wrong with Pizza! 🍕 Especially on your birthday! 😉 This is my first PROPER WHOLE PIZZA in recovery!! 😁 But screw anorexia! 😜 Pizza's come as a whole for a reason! 👍 So today I decided to be spontaneous and push myself out of my comfort zone! 😁 To participate in my first family takeaway in 8 years!!! 😂 Yes this was both terrifying, anxiety provoking and challenging but I'm proud did it! 💪Wow did it feel good to just participate in something normal again! To show my disorder who's boss and to actually have something that I 100% wanted! 😊 No light pizza or safe option, this was a proper cheesy veggie supreme! Smothered in BBQ sauce and also the most amazing garlic dip too!!! Cos sauces are amazing!!! 😏 Anyway why should we miss out on life's pleasures? Why should we let a disorder win and control us? Homework and snack time. I just tried an Almond Milk Matcha latte from our undergraduate library and it's actually really good! Although, in the future, I think I'll stick with my chai lattes 😝 I'm also having some GF pretzel and PB (since I haven't gotten a chance to buy sunbutter). Currently working on gaining back some weight that I lost during my last flare. So, I foresee lots of coffee/tea drinks and maybe some @_blueskysoda_ in my future. Liquids are the easiest ways for me to get in extra calories... Easy to replace my water with them. Im also still really tired, but there's only 2 more days until break!!!! Go ahead and replace the desire to BE YOU with the nausea of another chocolate binge.  Sure.  You can do that.  But why WOULD you, when all you ever had to do was say YES. I heard about a new study- the longest observation of personality from age 14 to 70s and the overwhelming results were that over time we become COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Now I didn't need a study to tell me that because I fucking live life as an ever evolving human and it's quite evident that the two people in these photos are the same shell but incomparable insides. That 14 year old girl was so confused by her body, obsessed with a relentless need to fit in, and struggling hard core through adolescence to just make it out alive. That 30 year old woman is HIGH ON LIFE. She is in love with her body, paves her OWN way and knows that as long as she's true to herself she will continue to thrive.  What a difference!  THANK GOD...right?!? To know that each of us standing here today has survived each and every single one of the shitty situations we've been faced with and we're  still standing!  To know that each hardship is an opportunity to learn to thrive in the face of adversity. To know that THE BEST IS YET TO COME. To know that no matter what lies ahead that FEELS impossible, that we have a 💯 track record of slaying that shit and reclaiming life. Remember- you got this! Even when it doesn't feel like it. HIGH WEIGHT LOW REPS Yep I said it. I will admit it. I constantly say "ohh I want to gain mass" or "I am wanting to put on a bunch of muscle " . But in reality I'm not doing it. I'm not listening to the people around me and other Fitness models (because they know what they are talking about lol.) today I am starting to work towards really building up! I have upped my calories (because eating is the biggest part) and am pushing harder on my workouts! Instead of doing more reps at lower weight I'm doing higher weigh with less reps! Let me tell you, I can feel it so much more! The burn feel so good! Feels like  I'm actually doing something right! It's already hard to walk today I can't wait for tomorrow or the day after 💪😝 - - Self reflection: Are you not listening to the people around you in anyway? "Give me angry" and this is what I come up with 😂  Currently feeling a bit (lot) low, anxious and have writers block to the max. So frustrating - also frustrated with myself, which is pointless but yet we do it anyway. I know it's silly to get angry with yourself for failing at something or should I say "not doing as well as you would have hoped" but I fall down on things here and ALWAYS come up with a way to beat myself up. Sometimes I need it, sometimes I dont - but I always do it. I'm working on it though 😎 Any tips or suggestions on NOT kicking yourself when you're down would be appreciated 🙃

I'm reposting this picture to talk about something really important. #NEDAawareness week is one week away. For the #RecoveryHeroes campaign I would like to thank and give a huge shout out to my beautiful, strong, resilient mother. This woman right here is my one of my Recovery Heroes. During my long battle with an eating disorder, she was (and still is) my biggest rock and my biggest support. There was nothing this woman wouldn't  have done in order to help me beat this life-sucking illness. She herself had an eating disorder for many years as a young adult and understood the war I had and still have going on with myself. Eating disorders are very very addictive, complicated, and seemingly impossible to recovery from. I never thought I could eat a meal without wanting to hurt myself after. I never thought I could like who I was if I wasn't starving my body. I have come such an incredibly long way and I could not have done it without this amazing woman next to me. I would not be here without the constant love, support and faith my mother has given me throughout the past 20 years (but especially the past 8yrs). There was nothing this woman wouldn't have done in order to help me beat this life-sucking illness. She herself had an eating disorder for many years as a young adult and understood the war I had and still have going on with myself. Eating disorders are very very addictive, complicated, and seemingly impossible to recovery from. I never thought I could eat a meal without wanting to hurt myself after. I never thought I could like who I was if I wasn't starving my body. I have come such an incredibly long way and I could not have done it without this amazing woman next to me. I would not be here without the constant love, support and faith my mother has given me throughout the past 20 years (but especially the past 8yrs). I am HATING this so much. Not only am I recovering from surgery and missing being in the gym, but I am still FULL of this virus/infection thing. It is not letting up one bit. Clients are sending me through before and afters from starting with me and it's making me feel so proud of them. They decided to make a change and they followed it through. Also seeing posts about workshops we ran in the past (last year was a mere idea of mine. Wasn't sure it'd actually be popular). It's lifting me up but it's also making me so sad. I just wanna be able to do things, feel healthy and actually move around. I keep watching fitness videos and just wanting to do those things 😔😔😔 even to walk! I know these things take time but it is annoying going from all (with copious amounts of pain) to nothing. Momma is looking after me but I can't say no to her feeding me and my gosh 😵😵🙈 I wish my usual self control would show itself 🙄

This is my homework. Today I returned to speech language therapy for the first time in over a month. My speech therapist specializes in patients with acquired brain injuries. She is patient, caring, and understands the difficulties I face and the reasons why.  First, we spoke about my life prior to the injuries. Multitasking and key decision making used to be a breeze. I functioned at a high level and could hold meaningful conversations. She asked me my end goal. At first, I hesitated. Then it slowly hit me, "I just want to be me again." She smiled. I've kind of loss myself twice now, back to back. Each injury has disconnected me in different ways. Over time, I do feel myself slowly come back. That part is truly a blessing. It's a good brain, afterall. During the session today, we began with word recognition and categorization exercises. I struggled. I seem to be using words I am comfortable with and used to. Nothing more, nothing less. The verbal exercises challenged me. I frantically searched for words in my head, but they just never came. At one point, I asked if it is supposed to be this hard? I thought it would be easy, I wanted it to be easier. My last session was in January before the second concussion. Back then, I was in much better brain-shape. Going into the session today, I knew I couldn't hold the same expectations. I need to be fair and honest with myself.  This is what it feels like to start over and rebuild. Some days it feels like a game of scrabble. All the words are in there, but were moved around on me. On a positive note, I showed my speech therapist how much I've been writing! My written skills are alive and well! It has taken extremely hard work, effort, and determination to get to this point. I've spent countless hours of practice and revision upon revision, as I tuck myself away into a quiet space and write. This is the bright side. I always leave room for the bright side.
