What's the goal? Train for the goal. Bodybuilders like Ryan Laos @ryanlaos on the left want to maximise mechanical tension through a full range of movement. Here Ryan is performing a tempo contrast set which will have constant tension on his quads for almost a minute. This is all vertical force production. This type of work is brutal. Its an advanced technique that will break a mere mortal. His goal is to have legs that are so big he can't buy pants to fit them. Sprinters like Nicolette D'Onofrio @niicolette on the right are not even close to singing from the same hymm book as Ryan. Recently research is showing that full range squatting isn't as beneficial to speed transfer as reduced range squats. Nicolette is performing explosive hip lock outs with an accommodating resistance to maximise horizontal force production, which is crucial for speed. I don't like calling these quarter squats because I want her to hip hinge rather than knee break. Because the most limiting factor of speed is body weight, we don't want Nicolette growing unnecessarily. Leave the planning and implantation of training to the adults. Struggled with tonight's poses because these require so much more flexibility! I wanted to challenge myself and set some specific goals. By the end of the year, my leg will be at 12 o' clock 😤 (p.s. I've found practicing yoga and meditating right before bed to be the most relaxing, and successful for me. Mornings aren't for me! my body is COLD and my mind is not as relaxed. I go to bed so happy and peaceful now!) yay to starting and committing to a new healthy habit 😊🙌🏽
